About AuDHD UK

AuDHD UK is a charity dedicated to ending autism and ADHD-related suicides in the UK. We want to ensure that every autistic and ADHD individual has access to the support they need by helping to fund therapy and assessments. We aim to raise awareness, provide resources, and build a supportive community where AuDHD individuals feel understood and empowered. Our work is driven by lived experience, and we are passionate about creating positive, life-saving change for AuDHD individuals and their families.

Role Overview

We are seeking compassionate and understanding Volunteer Peer Support Group Facilitators to help run our support groups for autistic and ADHD individuals. Our support groups are designed to create a safe and welcoming space where people can connect, share experiences, and feel supported.

Support groups are held online via video calls, in-person in Basingstoke, Hampshire, and through text-based messaging on WhatsApp. Facilitators will play a key role in guiding conversations, encouraging participation, and ensuring that group members feel valued and heard.

Key Responsibilities

Facilitating Support Sessions

  • Lead and moderate support groups in a safe, respectful, and inclusive manner.

  • Ensure all participants have an opportunity to share and feel heard.

  • Encourage positive and supportive conversations among group members.

Emotional Support and Guidance

  • Provide emotional support to group members by listening with empathy and understanding.

  • Signpost to additional resources and support services where needed.

  • Maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality at all times.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitor group dynamics and address any issues that arise sensitively.

  • Provide feedback to the AuDHD UK team to help improve the support offered.

Communication and Coordination

  • Liaise with other facilitators and the AuDHD UK team to share insights and best practices.

  • Communicate with group members via email or messaging platforms where needed.

Skills and Experience

⭐ Lived experience of autism and/or ADHD (desirable).
⭐ Passionate about supporting the AuDHD community and raising awareness.
⭐ Excellent communication and active listening skills.
⭐ Compassionate, patient, and non-judgemental.
⭐ Ability to handle sensitive conversations with care and confidentiality.
⭐ Comfortable using online platforms (e.g., Zoom, WhatsApp) for virtual sessions.
⭐ Experience in group facilitation, peer support, or mental health support is desirable but not essential.
